A Dreamers Space
In the same spirit of beauty in partnership, OaksATL is partnering with Peace Prep, Roots Down GA, and The Fruitful Community Foundation to imagine an even better landscape…together. On August 17, 2023, our OaksATL community came out into the lawn and soared into dreamland. The adults and children gave multiple suggestions about what they would like to see in their shared space. What would make them eager to spent time at home in their common space? The ideas were grand! Items such as vegetable and herb gardens, firepits, outdoor seating, and shade grew anticipating hearts. Reasonable, practical, and even edible ideas are what we want to see come to life. Stay tuned to see the progress and dreams become a reality.
RootsDown GA believes in the future of landscaping. They show property owners how to save money and save the planet by embracing sustainable landscaping. Founded in 2018, Roots Down is an environmental education firm dedicated to helping developers, HOA’s, and large organizations transition their landscaping portfolios to save money and boost their ESG impact. They help by providing a unique lens to the design, installation, and maintenance of ecological landscaping and pollinator habitats. Roots Down GA developed community-based education and activation programs that bring people together, educate landscaping professionals, and grow capacity within large organizations to design, build, and maintain Productive Urban Landscapes.
The Fruitful Community Foundation teaches the next generation of eco-advocates how to get involved in their local government to build climate solutions into local public policy and change public landscaping plans to more sustainable solutions. Their GreenHive Leadership Program cohorts hear from and develop relationships with industry leaders and local politicians, cultivate leadership skills, create land stewardship advocacy materials, and develop legacy project proposals that positively impact their community. Their community outreach engages our GLP leaders to participate in community events to help teach about the importance of converting traditional landscapes into climate-smart Productive Urban Landscapes, pollinator gardens, and food forests through individualized, free educational programs. We also enjoy working with community champions to understand the needs of each of the communities we serve and tailor our program accordingly.
